History Calendar of Holloway Case

The text from this historical calendar came from various sources such as police statements and interviews. It is not in any way 100% proof that events occurred as stated. It is offered here as a possible scenario of how things may have happened based on accumulative research.

October 21, 1986: Natalee Holloway is born in Memphis, Tennessee.
1993: Natalee's parents, Beth and Dave, get divorced.

1995: Dave Holloway remarries.

2000: Beth marries George “Jug” Twitty and moves from Clinton, Mississippi to Mountain Brook, Alabama. Natalee and younger brother Matt move with her. Dave and wife Robin move from Clinton to Meridian, Mississippi, where Natalee's two half-sisters are born.

2000: Deepak moves to Aruba from Suriname (J 6/10)

2000-5/30/05: Natalee is one of Laraine Watson's best friends, and “probably the least experienced with boys of all her friends" (Watson affidavit, Watson 302) 2000-5/30/05: Natalee is one of Madison Whatley's best friends. Madison observes that Bible Study is a very important part of Natalee's life and that she is very close with their Bible Study teacher (Whatley affidavit)

2000- 6/10/05: Joran has at least 6 girlfriends since age 14. In his 6/10 interview he identifies 5 gfs: Jillian Johnson, Melody Granadillo, Carmen Jacapouchi, Elaine, and Florencia Metz. His gf at the time he meets Natalee is Elaine, during questioning he dies not recall Elaine's last name. In his 6/24 interview he identifies a 6th gf, a 12 year old named Rika. He does not recall her last name either. On 6/17 Joran's friend Jaime tells polis Joran has a Spanish-speaking gf named Stephanie (J 6/10, J 6/24, JC 6/17)

2001: Joran begins drinking alcohol.

2001-2002: In 9th grade Natalee has a boyfriend, Sean McVea.

2002: Satish moves to Aruba from Suriname (J 6/10)

2003: Deepak buys his Honda Civic (S 6/10)

2004-2005: In her senior year Natalee dates Jeremy Brown Natalee is often the designated driver at parties (Watson affidavit).

Pre-5/30/05: According to unconfirmed message board report, Joran accuses a classmate with last name Merryweather of killing his dog and throwing it in Moko Dam. When the classmate's mother threatens to file a complaint against Joran with the polis, Joran confesses to killing his dog himself. Later the classmate's mother describes the alleged incident to the mother of message board poster “Arubagirl” (July 2005 message board post by Arubagirl)

Pre-5/30/05: Joran allegedly receives psychological counseling for anger management problems. According to Joran he received the counseling because he stole money from his parents and broke his brother's phone. Joran later tells Greta he has never received any counseling for anger issues (J 6/10, Joran's Greta interview).

Pre-5/30/05: Joran and friends pick up American tourists “probably 20 times" without anything going wrong (Greta)

Pre-5/30/05: Joran obtains a VIP pass to CnCs and goes there 1-3 times a week (J 6/9) 2005 Joran is a "social drinker". It takes a crate of beer for him to get tipsy, and 20-30 glasses of normal alcoholic beverages to get him drunk (J 6/10) Natalee tells a friend that she plans to save herself for marriage (6/15/05 message board post by her friend)

Pre-5/30/05: Joran has a 12 year old girlfriend named Rika. They only kiss and do not have sex. Rika's parents force her to break off the relationship (J 6/24)

Pre-5/30/05: According to statements allegedly made by a 16 year old Aruban girl, Karin Martina, to Aruban attorney Helen Lejuez, she is sexually assaulted and possibly drugged by Joran. Martina meets Joran at CnCs, where he buys her several alcoholic beverages. She later believes she was drugged because her level of intoxication is grossly disproportionate to the amount of alcohol she has consumed. Joran takes Martina home to his apt, where he has sex with her without her consent, as she is fading in and out of consciousness. Shortly thereafter she learns that 2 other young women, ages 16 and 17, were assaulted by Joran under similar circumstances. Later Martina recants this account (JQ Kelly civil filing) 2/3-2/8: According to Joran, sometime during Carnivale he has his second of three sexual encounters with Karen Martina, the first having occurred some time earlier on the beach near the Havana Nightclub. He meets Karen at CnCs, and afterwords they go for a walk to the pier. He wants have sex with her but does not have a condom, so she performs oral sex on him on the pier. Afterwords Joran, karen, Freddy, and another one of Joran's friends go to Joran's apt. On the way Karen performs oral sex on Joran, in the back seat of a moving vehicle while two of his male friends are riding in front- the exact scenario he later allegedly tells C. Croes occurred with Natalee. At Joran's apt Joran's friend asks if Karen is willing to have sex with Both him and Joran and Karen says no. Karen and Joran drink alcohol and have sex (J 6/24)

February-March: Joran meets Deepak and Satish thru his friend Koen Gottenbos (J 6/10) Joran goes out to niteclubs with Deepak and Satish about once a week. The clubs they usually go to are CnCs, Tantra, and Bahia. They also go to casinos. When Joran goes out with them they take Deepak's car. Sometimes they also go out with Freddy, Koen, and Jaime (J 6/10, D 6/10) Joran never sees Deepak or Satish in the company of a girl (J 6/10) On more than one occasion prior to Natalee's disappearance, Joran, Freddy, and Deepak pick up tourist girls and sex occurs. On at least one occasion Joran, Deepak, and one other person all have sex in one room. However Deepak tells polis in his 6/10 interview that the three have never all had sex with the same girl (D 6/10)

March 26: Photos uploaded to Webshots by Bailey Anne, an American girl who traveled to Aruba with her friend Alyse. Bailey's photos show that on the last night of their trip, the 2 girls encountered Joran, Deepak, Freddy, and Steffy, an Aruban girl who also knew Joran. It appears from Bailey's photos that she and Alyse left CnCs with the other 4. One photo, taken from the back seat of a vehicle as it passes Diamonds International, shows Deepak driving with Joran in front passenger seat, while the vehicle's 2 DVD players are playing the same porno DVD. After Natalee's disappearance, Deepak admits to polis that while Natalee was in his car, she was shocked when Satish put on a porno DVD (message board postings, D 6/11)

April: An 18 year old blond American female is with 2 of her friends at CnCs when they are approached by Joran, who offers to purchase them shots of 151. Joran points out Deepak and Satish Kalpoe and tells the girls they are his gambling friends. Another Joran friend approaches the girls, and tells them what a great athlete Joran is. When the bar closes Joran follows the girls trying very hard to convince them to come with him and continue partying at another bar. The girls decline. One of the girls has a photo of herself with Joran. (Beth on Abrams 8/4/06. Greta 6/4/05).

April-May: Joran has his third sexual encounter with Karen Martina, at his apt. He tells his mother karen is spending the night (J 6/24)

May 8: Natalee gives Beth a handmade Mother's Day present into which she has put a good deal of effort, a collection of pictures of her and Beth together since she was very young (Beth on Nancy Grace, 5/12/06)

May 24: Natalee graduates from Mountain Brook High School, with a 4.15 GPA. She is a National Honors Society member who ranks 25th in a highly competitive class of 293 students, 25% of whom scored higher than 1360 on the SAT and 28 on the ACT. She is scheduled to attend the University of Alabama on academic scholarships, and to major in pre-med studies. Last time Dave sees Natalee.

11:28 PM THURSDAY, MAY 26- MONDAY, MAY 30 Natalee travels to Aruba for a class graduation trip, along with 124 other MB kids and 7 chaperones. While in Aruba the MB group stays at the Sunspree Holiday Inn. Natalee stays in room 7114, which has two Queen sized beds. She has three roommates: Lee Broughton, Ruth McVay, and Madison Whatley. Natalee shares a bed with Ruth. Every morning when Ruth wakes up she sees Natalee beside her in bed, except for Monday (McVay interview in NY Post, 7/17/15) Lee and Natalee's daily routine is to get a drink and go to the ocean at 10:00 am, return to their room for naps at 5:00 pm, get ready for dinner at 6:00 pm, and then after dinner go out to bars together (screen capture of Broughton 302). During the trip, no males stay in Natalee's room, and Madison does not see any males use Natalee's toothbrush (Whatley 302). On an unspecified day a weird message is left on the phone in their hotel room, by a woman saying that “Rosemary” is scheduled for a massage off the hotel property (Whatley 302)

THURSDAY. MAY 26 Beth drives Natalee to the home of a friend, whose mother drives Natalee and several other MB kids to the airport. Last time Beth sees Natalee. According to Beth, last time she speaks to Natalee. After arriving in Aruba, Madison eats dinner and stays at the HI, while other MB kids go to CnCs (Whatley 302). Madison stays in the same room as her bf Trey Merrill, does not know where Natalee is that night (Whatley 302).

FRIDAY, MAY 27 Liz Cain does not see Natalee at breakfast (Cain 302) During the day Madison is with Natalee by the hotel pool (Whatley 302) 3:00-3:15 pm: Liz sees Natalee at the pool (Cain 302) 3:45-5:00 pm: Liz sees Natalee at the beach (Cain 302) Madison, Natalee, and others, go to CnCs by bus (Whatley 302) 8:30 pm: Liz sees Natalee at CnCs (Cain 302) At CnCs, Natalee is groped by an individual who, after she confronts him, allegedly strikes or slaps her, causing a scuffle involving some MB kids. According to Dave Holloway this individual has been identified, presumably by MB kids, as 4/15/06 arrestee GVC, altho GVC denies he ever met Natalee. Possibly this is the same scuffle that Brian Reynolds was quoted as saying he broke up at CnCs, on their second night there, altho Reynolds said that incident involved Joran. An Aruban cab driver takes an intoxicated girl, whom the driver later identifies as Natalee, back to her hotel, along with a friend and two guys. The girl talks about how she has fallen in love with a Dutch boy, and the guys are angry with her because they cannot accept that she has fallen in love so quickly. Days later, after Natalee's face becomes well known on the island, the driver reports the incident to polis. An unconfirmed report by ABC says that Natalee's friends verified the cab driver's account when questioned by polis (Aruban newspaper Soli di Pueblo 9/29/05, ABC News 4/24/06)

SATURDAY, MAY 28 Madison leaves CnCs by taxi, doesn't know when Natalee left (Whatley 302) . 1:30 am: Liz leaves CnCs, Natalee had already left (Cain 302) . According to unconfirmed reports, a girl later identified as Natalee by the FBI is on tape at a jewelry store in the Wyndham hotel, arguing with an unidentified male. Reportedly, the male wanted to purchase an item of jewelry, she insisted on purchasing it herself, they then took their argument outside the store. The sales woman cannot confirm if the male was American or Dutch. The incident is later mentioned in a civil filing by Joran's lawyer J. Tacopina, although the filing incorrectly states that it occurred “on the day Natalee disappeared”, and even if Tacopina meant Sunday there is still a conflict over the date (Glenda message board postings, J. Tacopina 4/25/06 civil filing). Allie Anderson, Lizzy Cezayrili and Stephanie Karagas go on Tattoo Cruise (Watson 302) 1:00-5:00 pm: Natalee goes on a snorkeling trip to sunken boat with Liz, Madison. Laraine, other MB kids, and 2 chapareones. No one else goes on the trip except for the two employees on the boat (Cain, Whatley, Watson 302s). After the snorkeling trip, Liz goes to the pool area at the HI, where she sees Natalee, and shortly thereafter she sees Natalee at dinner in the open pavilion area (Cain 302) Liz sees Natalee from a distance at the HI indoor bar, talking to a local man for about 30 minutes (Cain 302). In the evening, Brian Riser sees a tall, sunburned young man talking to Frances Ellen Byrd and Lee Broughton, whom he believes to be Joran (Riser 302) . Madison doesn’t leave the HI that night, doesn't know if Natalee did (Whatley 302). Natalee becomes very intoxicated and is escorted back to her room by Kevin Broday (screen capture of Broughton 302) Joran, Deepak, and Satish go to CnCs, do not see Natalee there (S 6/10)

SUNDAY, MAY 29 In the morning Natalee starts drinking mixed drinks called “Red Fires”, which contain Diet Coke and Bicardi 151. Natalee becomes intoxicated and her friends tell her to slow down. Lee and Natalee continue drinking throughout the day (screen capture of Broughton 302) According to what Lee allegedly said in her FBI interview, Natalee meets Joran on the beach. However Lee later says she knows for a fact Natalee never met Joran before Sunday night (screen capture of Broughton 302, AMW 6/3/06) Laraine is with Natalee on the beach most of the day. While on the beach, Allie Anderson, Lizzy Cezayrili and Stephanie Karagas wave at a group of individuals at an adjacent resort, whom they had met the previous day on the Tatoo cruise. Natalee is intrigued by what her classmates reported about the cruise, and Laraine later says she would not be surprised if Natalee had met the individuals from the adjacent resort sometime that afternoon (Watson 302)

1:30 pm: Satish drops Deepak off at work at Cyberzone (S 6/10)

2:00-11:00 pm: Deepak at work at Cyberzone

4:00 or 5:00 pm: Natalee and Laraine leave the beach and go to the hotel pool, where Laraine takes photos of Natalee and other students, which are later requested by the FBI. Natalee and other classmates are drinking on and off throughout this time (Watson 302).

4:00 pm: Joran and Paulus attend a free poker tournament at the HI's Excelsior casino. Halfway through Paulus leaves to look after Joran's younger brother. Joran takes his place at the tournament. When Joran is done he goes to play blackjack (J 6/9) .

4:30 pm: Liz sees Natalee at the HI pool (Cain 302)

5:00 pm: Liz sees Natalee at the hot tub in the HI (Cain 302)

6:00-7:00 pm: Natalee, Lee, Madison and others go to dinner at restaurant next to the HI (screen capture of Broughton 302, Whatley 302) Natalee has a couple drinks at dinner. During girl talk at dinner Madison recalls that Natalee had been flirting with Kevin Broday (screen capture of Whatley 302)

7:00-11:30 pm: Scheduled time of Soul Beach concert, located in southern Aruba at Surfside Bach, adjacent to Havana Beach Club. Ruth stated that Natalee attended the concert, but based on the timeline it seems unlikely she actually did (McVay interview in NY Post, 7/17/05)

7:51 pm: Joran on tape entering HI casino

11:29 PM After dinner, Natalee, Lee, Madison and others go to the HI casino, where Joran is already present, sitting at a table with an "older man" (Whatley 302).

8:00-10:00 pm: Laraine goes to HI casino and sees Joran standing near blackjack table with Madison and Ruth. She uses a slot machine for a few minutes then returns to the blackjack table and sees Joran playing blackjack with Thornton Ratliff. Watson does not see Natalee at the table (Watson 302)

8:15 pm: Joran and group of MB girls including Natalee on tape together at same blackjack table in HI casino, along with an unidentified man that Natalee converses with. The girl sitting next to Joran on his left is Ruth. On the tape Natalee appears to be talking on a cell phone. Natalee watches her classmates gamble but does not gamble herself. Joran helps Ruth try to win $100. Ruth and Madison tell Joran they are going to CnCs, Joran tells them CnCs sucks on a Sunday night. They tell Joran it is the MB kids' last night in Aruba. Joran leaves the table after losing about $250 (Whatley 302) MB girl sitting next to Joran says she'd lost $100 of her father's money and wants to win it back, he helps her do so. MB girls tell him it is their last night and ask him if he wants to go to CnCs. He is interested in the girl sitting next to him on his left, whose name he later recalls as “Kathleen”. After “Kathleen” wins back about $100, the MB girls leave to cash in their chips. According to C. Croes, Joran later falsely claims that the girl whose money he won back was the same girl who left the bar with him, Natalee (J 6/9, Joran's Greta interview, Greta 5/30/05).

8:58 pm: Natalee on tape re-entering casino.

9:00 pm: Liz sees Natalee at HI Pavilion, Natalee says she is going to the casino in the hotel.

9:00-10:00 pm: Laraine sees Natalee coming out of the bathroom in HI lobby area, Laraine compliments Natalee on her shirt and has a conversation with her. Natalee appears to be getting ready to leave the hotel, she does not appear intoxicated.

9:45 pm: Satish leaves to pick up Deepak from work (D 6/11)

9:00-10:00 pm: Joran leaves HI casino, goes to little bar behind the casino, sees MB girls there. They tell him not to forget to go out tonight, He tells them Sunday, isn't a good night to go out, but they suggest it again and he decides he will go to CnCs, hoping to meet up with “Kathleen" (Greta) Ruth tells Joran she will take a shower and meet him later at CnCs (J 6/9) Natalee, Lee, and others go to the “hotel by the pool”. Approximately 5 minutes later when Joran is leaving, Natalee asks if Joran is planning to meet them later at CnCs (screen capture of Broughton 302). Joran calls his friend Jaimie Carasquilla, and asks him if he will accompany him to CnCs, Jaime says he cannot because he has to work the next day (J 6/9) Joran calls Paulus and asks for a ride home. Paulus says he will pick him up at McDonalds. While walking to McDonalds, Joran calls Deepak (Greta)

9:50 pm: Joran calls Deepak at work, tells Deepak he met girls in the casino who would be going to CnCs, asks Deepak if he wants to go with him. Deepak says yes, he will go home for a short while and then pick Joran up at his place (D 6/11) Joran calls Florencia Metz and asks her if she will accompany him to CnCs, but she says her father won't allow her to go (J 6/9) 10-20 minutes after Joran leaves the HI, Paulus picks him up at McDonalds, drives him home (Greta). Satish and Deepak go to Taco Bell, during drive home afterwords Deepak is bitten by ants in the car. Deepak tells Satish they should clean the car because any girls in the car may be bitten by ants. At home, Deepak and Satish vaccuum/clean car. In his 6/10 interview, Deepak says they vaccumed the car the day before his 5/31 interview at Bubali, because Joran had almost fallen in the water, and then sat down in the car with sand on his shorts and legs. However Deepak may have been mistaken about the date and was referring to the vacuuming that he says occured on 5/29 (D 6/10, D 6/11)

10:33 pm: Joran checks his e-mail on the VDS computer

11:00 pm: Liz sees Natalee at CnCs (Cain 302)

11:00 pm: One of the chaperones, Mr. McGovern, is at CnCs that nite with MB kids (Watson 302)

11:10 pm: Joran calls Deepak again to make sure he is coming (D 6/11) MONDAY, MAY 30 1

2:00 am: Deepak and Satish arrive at Joran's home. Joran is printing school assignment (D 6/11)

12:15 am: The trio leave Joran's home for CnCs (D 6/11)

12:30 am: The trio arrive at CnCs (D 6/11) One of Natalee's friends greets Joran when he walks in (Greta) Joran does not speak to Ruth at CnCs and is not certain if he even saw her there. However Joran initially tells polis that when he entered CnCs, Ruth greeted him and told him that he should go dance with Natalee because she fancied him (Greta, J 6/9) Madison sees Joran while standing on platform looking for friends, does not see Natalee with him. Madison and Ruth leave CnCs before Natalee, Ruth goes back inside to tell Natalee they are leaving (Whatley 302) Ruth is tired so she returns to the HI and goes to bed (McVay interview in NY Post 7/17/05) Satish observes Natalee gesturing for Joran to come dance with her (S 6/11) Joran declines and goes to bar with Kalpoes to buy drinks Natalee again asks Joran to dance, he again declines.(Greta, PTL) Deepak observes that Natalee dances beautifully and does not appear unsteady on her feet when she steps off the stage, altho he initially tells polis he could tell she was drunk from how she was dancing and that she swayed on her feet when she walked. She walks up to Joran and Deepak hears them talking about dancing. Deepak speaks to a friend for 5-10 minutes, then can't find Satish and Joran so he goes outside to wait in the car (D 6/9, 6/11)

12:30-12:45 am: Laraine is standing at the bar with Bruce Rawls and Allie Anderson. Natalee tries to get Allie to come meet a couple of guys she has met, Allie declines, Natalee walks away toward the dance floor. Only two or three more songs play before CnCs closes (Watson 302) Satish observes Natalee take Joran by the hand and lead him to other bar, lie down on bar. Satish has never seen this before and asks Joran what she is doing, Joran says she has invited him to do a body shot off her. Natalee pays for the body shot (S 6/11) As CnCs is closing they go back to the bar on the other side and Joran buys Natalee a shot of Bicardi 151 Natalee drinks Joran's whiskey Coke as a chaser before drinking the shot of 151 in two goes. Joran can tell that Natalee is already drunk before she drinks the 151, can smell alcohol on her breath (J 6/9) Natalee agrees to leave with Joran, then goes to speak to some of her friends and returns (Greta, PTL). Satish is standing beside Joran the entire time he is talking to Natalee (J 6/9)

12:55 am: Laraine is standing and chatting with Natalee, sees her go to the dance floor to dance. Possible this is same incident described in Watson 302 (Watson affidavit).

11:31 PM Deepak sits outside car because Satish has keys. Deepak is out of minutes so sends Satish "missed call", Satish comes out and gives him keys, goes back inside to get Joran (D 6/11) Satish recieves “missed call” from Deepak, calls him back, tells him they are still inside CnCs and will come out to the car. Joran tells Satish they are leaving and Natalee is coming with them, the three of them leave CnCs together (S 6/11) From inside the bar, Ed Kissel sees Natalee leave with Joran (BOR, 6/16/05) 1:00 am: CnCs closes.

1:00 am: Lee returns to her hotel room at closing and goes to bed, does not know Natalee had left with Joran (AMW, 6/3/06)

1:00 am: Laraine and Bruce Rawls leave CnCs (Watson 302)

1:00 am: Barbara Blackburn leaves CnCs and goes to Choose a Name bar (Watson 302)

1:00 am: Haley Uncapher leaves CnCs and walks to Choose a Name, does not see Natalee as she is walking (Uncapher 302).

1:00 am: Joran and Natalee walk with Satish to where Deepak is waiting in the car behind CnCs (Greta) Outside CnCs an American tourist asks Joran if he can have his cup, Joran gives it to him (J 6/9) Between CnCs and the car Joran asks Natalee if she wants to go back to her hotel. Natalee asks Joran if he has a big house, Joran asks her if she wants to see it and she says yes (Greta) Joran, Satish, and Natalee are all walking together when Natalee asks Joran if she can go home with him, altho Satish does not mention this when he describes the walk to the car in his 6/11 statement (J 6/9) Natalee tells her friends that she will meet up with them later at the HI (J 6/9) Two female MB kids go back inside CnCs looking for stragglers, they find one male MB kid sitting in the bar. The three leave to look for stragglers at another bar. Outside they encounter Natalee as she is walking with Joran, a short distance behind another MB group that is going to catch taxis back to the HI. Before they part with Natalee, she points to the other MB group and says she is going with them (BOR 6/16/05, ect) A male MB kid sees Natalee go back inside bar, emerge 15 minutes later with Deepak holding her by the arm, walk with him down the alley to rear parking (Dave Holloway, ect) Natalee gets in the right side of the car and sits behind Deepak (D 6/9, S 6/11) Natalee gets into the car behind Satish. Joran gets in behind Deepak (J 6/9) Deepak greets Natalee when she gets in the car, she greets him back and introduces herself (D 6/9) Natalee does not introduce herself to either Satish or Deepak (S 6/11) Natalee asks Joran if Deepak and Satish are rich people because she is impressed by their car (J 6/9) Joran tells Deepak in Papiamento to “drive around” (D 6/9) Security video at Diamonds International jewelry store, later shown on Opsporing Verzocht, captures Deepak's vehicle leaving CnCs.. Timestamp on video not publicly known, but unconfirmed message board reports say it was 1:18. Also not publicly known whether vehicle is captured passing the camera more than once, as would be expected if suspect statements about circling the block are accurate. They pass Natalee's friends on the main road, standing between Royal Plaza mall and the bus stop (J 6/9) They circle around, passing CnCs again (J 6/9, D 6/9, S 6/9) Natalee sees her friends standing at intersection west of Royal Plaza, Satish observes there are about 60 people at the Plaza intersection on both sides of the road. Joran says to turn right because Natalee wants to speak to her friends (S 6/9) Instead of passing CnCs again, Deepak turns left toward Choose a Name because he sees polis car at the corner and he is not wearing a seatbelt (D 6/9) As they are "crawling" in traffic, Natalee shouts "Aruba" to her friends. A young man walks up to the car and shouts at her "Are you crazy, get out of the car". She answers that she will hook up with them later at the hotel and will go with the trio. The young man doesn't say anything more and Deepak drives off (J 6/9, D 6/9, S 6/11) Deepak stops the car past the crosswalk and tells Natalee she should go with her friends, she declines. Deepak drives on (J 6/9. D 6/9) After passing Choose a Name, Deepak circles around, returns to main road and turns right heading toward the Royal Plaza. Deepak intends to leave Natalee with her friends. (J 6/9, D 6/9, S 6/9)

1:20 am: They pass back thru the Plaza intersection, Natalee's friends are no longer there (J 6/9, D 6/9, S 6/11) 1:26 am: Keycard for Natalee's room used (Tacopina)

Joran takes Natalee to his house. On the way he initiates kissing with Natalee. Natalee asks Joran if Deepak and Satish are his slaves and says that in Alabama we consider black people slaves (Greta, PTL)

1:40 am: They arrive at Joran's house (J 6/14) Joran decides not to take her inside because his father and brother are sleeping. Then Natalee says she wants to go to the lighthouse to see sharks. Joran tells Deepak to drive to the lighthouse, but they never go there. Natalee tells Joran her mother is “Hitler's sister” (Greta, PTL) During the drive a white rental car drives alongside Deepak's car for about 5 seconds and Deepak wonders what is up with these men. Then the other vehicle turns into the direction of the Holiday Inn as Deepak keeps driving straight (J 6/9, S 6/11) Joran asks Natalee if she wants to go back to her hotel, she declines. Joran decides to take her to the beach north of her hotel (Greta, PTL)

ROUTE TO BEACH: KALPOE VERSION
 
Natalee says she wants to see sharks at the lighthouse. Joran says there are no sharks there. Natalee says the lighthouse is the only place on Aruba she has not seen. Joran tells Deepak to drive to the lighthouse (J 6/9 D 6/11, S 6/11) When they reach La Cabana, Satish puts in a DVD with a nude scene, Natalee says “Oh my God, what is that”. Deepak says "Now she'll think we're perverts". After a few minutes Joran tells Satish “Turn that thing off, she has had enough” (D 6/11) Satish hears Natalee say that her mother is Hitler's sister, that she is from Alabama, and that her parents own a plantation there that has slaves working on it. Joran later tells the Kalpoes that Natalee had asked him if they were his slaves (S 6/11) During the drive a white rental car drives alongside Deepak's car for about 5 seconds and Deepak wonders what is up with these men. Then the other vehicle turns into the direction of the Holiday Inn as Deepak keeps driving straight (J 6/9, S 6/11) At Arashi beach, Deepak stops the car and gets out to relieve himself, then drives on to the lighthouse. Everyone in the car is awake when he gets out (D 6/11, 6/30) At the lighthouse Deepak drives past the restaurant and back again past the lighthouse. When he says “This is the lighthouse” there is no response. Deepak sees that Joran and Natalee are kissing. Deepak does not see Joran's hand under her dress, altho he initially tells polis he does. Deepak sees two vehicles parked at the lighthouse, a green jeep and white car (D 6/9, D 6/11) At they are leaving the lighthouse Joran says that Natalee has fallen asleep. Deepak asks how that is possible, then tells Joran to wake her up and ask her where she is staying. Joran wakes Natalee up, asks her if she is staying at the HI. Natalee says yes, Joran then says to Deepak that he should drive to the HI to drop her off (D 6/11, S 6/11)
 
A security guard at the lighthouse does not see a car going to the lighthouse (Greta) 3 fishermen are at the Marriott beach all night and “see nothing”. Their exact location on the beach or in the water has not been specified (Opsporing Verzocht)

1:50 am: Joran asks to be let out at the street north of the Marriott hotel. Natalee gets out on the same side as Joran. After Joran and Natalee get out, Joran says he will find a way to get home, and will walk Natalee back to the HI. Joran and Natalee walk away towards the beach holding each other. Deepak does not see anyone else around. Deepak drives off, stops briefly in front of Marriott hotel while Satish throws their drink containers out the window (J 6/14, D 6/11, D 6/13, D 6/30, S/6/11) There are other couples on the beach by the Marriott. Joran takes off his shoes, walks up to the water with Natalee and sits down with her. They talk and kiss. They stay on the beach by the Marriott for about 5 minutes before standing up, hand in hand. Natalee again says she doesn't want to go back to her hotel, so they walk the other way, almost to the Fisherman's Huts, passing one other couple on the way. Joran tells Natalee that the stars are beautiful. Natalee tells him that there are no stars. Natalee asks how far they are from the North Coast, Joran says they aren't going to walk there because it is too far away (J 6/14, Greta)

2:00 am: Kathryn Laylor or Katherine Blum walks by the pool toward the beach with an American-looking guy, about 15 minutes later they return and the girl walks up toward the rooms by herself (Watson 302) Kalpoes return home, Satish goes to bed. Deepak turns on computer and chats on MSN with a friend, John Croes. He tells Croes that he had dropped Joran off on the street with a girl, and that he is waiting for Joran to call and say everything is fine. After chatting with Croes, Deepak watches TV (D 6/11) Joran and Natalee engage in sexual activity on the beach for more than 15 minutes, but do not actually have sex because altho Natalee is willing, Joran does not have a condom. Afterwords Natalee wants Joran to stay but he tells her he has to go home. Joran picks her up to carry her back to her hotel but she demands that he put her down. Joran walks to the Fisherman's Huts to call Deepak, because the beach is windy (J 6/14, Greta)

2:26 am: Joran calls Deepak from his cell phone (Tacopina) Joran calls and says he is walking home and is in the vicinity of the McDonalds on Palm Beach. Joran tells Deepak that he is walking home barefoot because he took his shoes off to go in the water with Natalee and could not find them again. He also says he left Natalee "passed out" on the beach. Deepak curses at him and says he is sick for doing that to the girl. There is a lot of disturbance on the call and at times Deepak cannot hear Joran. At one point it is so bad that Joran says he will talk to Deepak online when he gets home. The call lasts about 5 minutes (D 6/11, 6/16)

2:30 am: Gardener allegedly passes by Deepak’s car as it is parked on a dirt road by a pond near the Racquet Club, a few hundred yards from where Joran claims he left Natalee on the beach. Gardener later identifies Joran in front seat, and Deepak in front passenger seat, but cannot identify the third male in rear seat, because he ducks down.

2:38 am: Young woman resembling Natalee is seen on ATM video coming out of the bathroom opposite HI casino, along with young woman who has Lee's hair, height, and clothing. To be seen on ATM camera exiting the bathroom but not entering, she must have passed thru the pool area. She is dressed similarly to how Natalee was dressed at CnCs, but is wearing a different top (Glenda message board postings) Deepak sends Joran a message telling him that he is waiting for him to get home and go online, and after that he will go to sleep (D 6/11) Joran sends Deepak a message saying when he gets home he will go online (D 6/11) Deepak goes back to chatting on the computer with Croes. Speculation is that the call was made at about 3:00 am but this has not been confirmed. C. Croes has allegedly said in an e-mail that the call was determined not to be from Natalee. According to unconfirmed reports, sometime on the night of May 30 or 31 there is a break in at the Fisherman's Huts, and various items are stolen including a knife and a wire fish trap (Jossy Mansur, ect)

8:00 am -2:45 pm: Joran at school (J 6/14) Sometime on “the last day of the trip” Madison's bf uses her toothbrush because he has lost his (Whatley 302) . Ruth awakens and does not see Natalee in bed next to her. Natalee's roommates assume she'd slept in another room to be polite and not wake them up (NY Post 7/17/05) Holly Brown helps Madison clean up their hotel room. Madison asks Holly to throw her toothbrush in the trash, Holly puts Madison's toothbrush in a trash can in Madison's adjoining hotel room- not clear if that means Madison's room was adjoining Natalee's, or Holly's room was adjoining Madison's and Natalee's (Whatley 302) . Natalee's roommates begin knocking on doors and calling other friends looking for her. After the first bus is checked off, chaperones are informed that Natalee is missing and had last been seen the previous night, leaving with some guys in a silver car. Natalee's belongings are brought to the front of the hotel in case she shows up. Croes listens to message on William Morris' voice mail, calls Morris in the US and speaks to him (Greta 6/30/05) Beth and Co return to the HI and.view casino tapes. Joran is recognized on the tapes. Meanwhile C. Croes and Leo go to the beach by the Marriott, where they encounter some teenagers, who recognize the description of Deepak’s car and lead them to the VDS home (Greta 6/30/05) According to unconfirmed message board reports, Leo spots Deepak's car inside the VDS gates and takes down the license plate number. Alberto Groeneveld receives information that the silver car in which Natalee was last seen departing from CnCs, had been spotted at a house in Montanja (Vinda letter) Beth and Co rendezvous with C. Croes at the Noord polis station. Two polis officers accompany the group back to the VDS home (Greta 6/30/05) The silver car apparently was not there anymore (Vinda letter) . Paulus emerges from house, is told why the group is there. Paulus calls Joran and takes the group to the Wyndham looking for him.

2:15 am: Guido leaves the Radisson to take Andre home. Deepak and Joran leave the Raddison to go to the Wyndham because Deepak wants to play blackjack. While parking at the Wyndham Joran receives a phone call from Paulus telling him the polis are at their house about the girl they had been with the night before. Pauls tells Joran to stay put and he would come pick them up. Joran misunderstands and Deepak and Joran drive to Joran's house (D 6/11, 6/13) Joran says: “What the **** is up/wrong with this *****." Then Joran tells Deepak they should say that they left CnCs with her, that they drove around, that Joran kissed and digitally penetrated her, that she fell asleep in the car, that they took her back to her hotel, that she fell down, that Joran helped her up, and she walked off (D 6/11, 6/13) Deepak tells Joran they should say they left her at the HI (J 6/14)

2:40 am: Joran and Deepak arrive at Joran's home, no one is there. (D 6/13)

2:45 am: Deepak calls Satish to tell him the girl has gone missing and that they should say they left her at the HI. Satish hears Joran instructing Deepak what to say (S 6/11) Joran phones Satish and verifies that he remembered the story correctly (D 6/13) After being shown a photo of Natalee, a Wyndham casino employee says she had just been seen in the casino. When neither Natalee or Joran are found there, Paulus calls Joran again and the group returns to the VDS home, where Joran and Deepak are already present. Paulus informs Joran several times that he does not have to say anything. Deepak also says that Joran shouldn’t say anything. However Joran claims he wants to talk because he wants to help find Natalee. Claudio Eldridge understands Paulus to say that he picked Joran up at McDonalds at 4:00 (Vinda letter) Joran is questioned by C. Croes, and tells him his initial story, describing Natalee as “crazy” and as the sexual aggressor. According to Croes, Joran says Natalee was dancing “like a ****”. In addition to telling Croes that Natalee said she wanted to have sex with him, that her mother was Hitler's sister, and that she asked him if the Kalpoes were his slaves, Joran allegedly claims to Croes that Natalee was the girl whose money he helped win back at the casino, and that she called him her "lucky charm". Also, he allegedly makes two other claims to Croes that he does not repeat in his statements to polis: That Natalee performed oral sex on him in the car, and that she told him she was a virgin (Vanity Fair, Greta 5/30/05). Deepak embellishes the HI dropoff lie, with the detail that Natalee was met outside the lobby by a security guard.

3:20 am: Group arrives at HI for re-enactment of fictitious HI dropoff. Deepak talks to a man sitting in a car with Beth in back, and accidentally mentions something about the shoes. Joran comes over and speaks to Beth. She says Natalee is not seen returning on the HI lobby tape, asks him what he had done with her daughter. When he says he did nothing she tells him she doesn't believe him (D 6/11)

5:45 am: Paulus says Joran needs to go to school and that Natalee's family members should file a missing persons report. Polis car takes Joran, Deepak, and Paulus back to Joran's house (D 6/11)

6:30-6:45 am: Satish wakes up. Deepak tells Satish he has just come home from the polis station. They go into Satish's bedroom and Satish asks what is going on. Deepak tells Satish that the girl is missing, and informs him he has added the security guard to the HI lie. Satish leaves for school, Deepak goes to his room and goes to bed (S 6/11, D 6/13)

6/1-6/8: On an unspecified day the trio go for a walk around the Raquet Club for about 5 minutes. They are observed by Guido, Koen, and possibly Koen's brother Sander. During the conversation they discuss the HI route and whether they might become suspects (D 6/16)

6/1-6/8: Joran's girlfiend Elaine dumps him over what happened with Natalee, he aquires a new girlfriend, Florencia Metz (J 6/9)

June 1: Dave Holloway arrives on Aruba. The first two polis stations he visits are unaware of Natalee's disappearance. At the Noord station, Det. Jacobs tells him to go to CnCs, relax and have a beer, she will probably show up there on Ladies Night.

June 1: Anita VDS returns to Aruba from the Netherlands.

June 2: Polis and Dutch military begin search effort with helicopters and all terrain vehicles.

June 3: Steve Croes tells Deepak he saw Natalee leave CnCs with the trio and fall down when she got out at the HI. Deepak asks him for his number and tells him he will give it to the polis if he gets in trouble (D 6/10, S 6/10)

June 3: Nadira, Deepak and Satish go to Joran's house. Paulus asks Nadira if the Kalpoes have a lawyer, when she says no, he finds a lawyer for them (D 6/13)

June 5: Security guards Mickey John and Abraham Jones arrested. June 5: Deepak allegedly sends an e-mail to a friend in the US, describing the trio's original version of events the night Natalee disappeared. The e-mail is posted on an Internet message board in mid-June. Altho according to unconfirmed reports Deepak denies he sent the e-mail, it is strikingly similar to his June 9 statement, containing details that were not yet publicly known. The e-mail also describes how, according to Joran, Natalee was the girl whose money he helped win back in the casino.

June 6: Aruba government employees given day off to search for Natalee.

June 8: John and Jones remanded to be held for an additional 8 days

June 8: Joran, Deepak, and Satish are together at Joran's house because the power is out at the Kalpoe home and Joran wanted to see video of Satish's school trip. Paulus meets with the trio during this time, but when questioned by polis on 6.10 Deepak can not recall what he said, except for comments about the media outside their door and the video they were watching (D 6/10)

June 9: Trio are arrested and give their first statements to polis as suspects, in which Joran and Deepak tell polis they took Natalee to the lighthouse and then back to her hotel, while Satish refuses to say anything. Joran says that they did not go to his home at all, because his father and brothers were home. He describes in detail the sexual activity he claims that Natalee consented to with him, which Deepak initially corroborates by stating that he saw Joran's hand under her dress while Joran and Natalee were kissing. However Deepak later says that he actually did not see Joran's hand under her dress. Joran also denies having told polis during his Bubali interview that he and Natalee walked in the sea by the Fisherman's Huts, tho later he says it is possible that he did.

June 10: False reports that one of the 3 young men in custody has confessed “something bad happened” to Natalee, and is leading polis to the body

June 10: FBI tells Natalee's family that Natalee is probably no longer alive June 10: Prosecutor requests Beth's DNA, she gives blood and saliva samples

June 11: Joran gives statement in which he says the Kalpoes dropped him off at home and drove off with Natalee. This statement has not been made public, but Joran confirmed that he made it during his Greta interview.

June 11: Deepak and Satish give statements in which they admit having lied about leaving Natalee at the HI, and say that Joran and Natalee got out at the beach near the Marriott. Deepak says he thinks that Joran raped Natalee, but did not murder her.

June 11: J2K remanded to be held for an additional 8 days

June 11: Oduber says blood was found in Deepak's car. NFI later reports it was actually chocolate and cleaning fluid.

6/11-6/14: During this time a "confrontation" occurs in which Deepak tells Joran that on the morning of May 30, Joran had sent him a message telling him to go on line (J 6/14)

June 13: John and Jones are released.

June 13: Joran gives statement to polis in which he declares: "“I called Deepak and he came with two dogs. I think he raped the girl and did something to her.” He also says he thinks Natalee was buried next to the wall of the Fisherman's Hut.

June 14: Joran gives statement in which he agrees that the Kalpoes dropped him off at the beach with Natalee, but says that before going to the beach they stopped at his house, and he does not mention going to the lighthouse. He says he left Natalee sleeping on the beach, that Deepak picked him up from the beach, and that after driving him home Deepak told him he would immediately go back to the beach to look for his shoes. Polis confront Joran with a text mesage he sent to Deepak at approximately 3:15 that morning, which says: "Hey Swa, I am home now, I will see you tomorrow". Joran admits sending that message to Deepak. ,

June 18: Paulus gives interview as a witness, in which he tells polis he found it strange that the trio weren't asked to make more detailed statements during their original interviews as witnesses, and therefore concluded there was probably information that Natalee had been seen after being dropped off at the HI. He also says he believed the HI story until he learned it was a lie from Freddy.

June 19: S. Croes remanded to be held for an additional 8 days June 21: Beth and Greta visit with Paulus and Anita at VDS home

June 23: Paulus is arrested

June 24: Polis secretly tape J2K while they are alone together in polis vehicle. On the tape all three act like they do not know what happened to Natalee. The tape also does not provide any definitive answer as to whether Joran or 2K is telling the truth about how Joran returned home from the beach,

Dec 5: Vanity Fair article is published. In the article Dompig makes negative comments about Natalee's drinking in Aruba, calls Natalee a racist, and accuses her family of harming the investigation. He also states that he has two witnesses, Aruba Today editor Julia Renfro and a HI employee, that Beth said Natalee had called her from Aruba to say she was in love with a blue eyed Dutch boy. Dompig says polis need to learn the identity of this boy. Beth says she never spoke to Natalee while she was in Aruba.

Dec 16: Rep. Bacchus hosts closed door meeting in DC with Aruban delegation, which includes Dolph Richardson The family's lawyer, JQ Kelly, is not permitted to attend the meeting. Afterwords Bacchus emerges praising the Aruban investigation.

Dec 31: Call to Aruban radio station by witness claiming Natalee was buried in the sand dunes 2006

The lawsuit alleges that Joran sexually assaulted Natalee, and contains affidavits from several close friends of Natalee who are now residents of NY, stating that they they have testimony to offer regarding Natalee's character, and that NY is a more convenient forum for them than Aruba.
Feb 18: Dutch TV airs interview with the VDS, in which it becomes publicly known that Joran claims Satish picked him up from the beach

March 1: Joran does an interview on Aruban radio in which he says that Satish went back for his shoes, and that he does not believe Natalee was a virgin based on the way she acted.
March 1–3: Greta airs an interview with Joran taped in Aruba. Greta announces that she is “inclined to believe” Joran.
March 3: Joe Tacopina is retained by VDS to represent them in the NY civil suit
March 7: Tacopina files motion to dismiss civil suit March 24: California sand dunes searched by ground penetrating radar. March 25: “48 Hours” airs interview with Dompig, in which Dompig declares that “these boys are not killers” and promotes his theory that Natalee caused her own death by alcohol and possibly drugs. The 48 Hours program also features a dummy experiment conducted by an Aruban scientist, that claims to rule out accidental drowning as a cause of death, based on the improbability of the body not returning to shore.
