Joran van der Sloot seemed to be the central figure in this investigation almost from the very beginning. For many months no one would hear his voice or have any idea what he might have to say about the night Natalee Holloway went missing in Aruba. In September of 2005 he would give his first interview to Current Affair. This would then be followed by a prime time interview on ABC television in February of 2006, with Chris Cuomo. One of the most scrutinized interviews Joran would give would be to Fox news, On the Record with Greta van Susteren in March of 2006. We will look closely at how Joran describes the evening from his first brief encounter with Natalee at the Excelsior Casino black jack table, to his chance meeting again at Carlos 'n Charlies, until he says he then left her on the Marriott beach area near the Fisherman Huts, on the early morning hours of May 31, 2005.
The first time most of us heard Joran speak would be in his Current Affair interview where he willingly spoke to a reporter on the campus of the University he was attending in the Netherlands. This was on September 26, 2005. For me personally it was significant, as it gave me the opportunity to begin to see Joran as a real person. This interview and others had quite and impact on my feelings on this case and my interest in trying to understand what happened.

For Joran the night will begin here, where he will be seen on this video sitting at the same black jack table as Natalee Holloway.
These are the words of Joran van der Sloot, about the events that occured the night Natalee Holloway went missing, as told to Current Affair, on September 26, 2005.
