After 2 1/2 years the Natalee Holloway case would heat up on November 21, 2007 with the arrest once again of the prime suspects Joran van der Sloot and Deepak and Satish Kalpoe. This event would be breaking news on all media outlets and a major news story. The family of Natalee Holloway would appear on television nightly once again feeling hopeful that finally the case would be solved. Joran who had been studying in Holland at the time was returned to Aruba and along with the Kalpoes would be locked up and interrogated. Joran's attorney, Joe Tacopina was shocked at the events but would appear on television stating again that his client was innocent and that no new evidence had been found to change that. The Aruban prosecutor Hans Mos seemed to be stating that there was new evidence and that he hoped it would be enough to bring this case to trial. The media would rush back to Aruba to cover the story of the rearrests. Greta Van Susteren would speak with the Aruban attorneys for the Kalpoe brothers David Kock and Jose Figueroa. They would declare there is no new evidence against their clients. Greta also would go On the Record with Hans Mos, who explains the use of the term, "voluntary manslaughter," with regards to these arrests. Mos feels the new evidence is very strong against all three.
The media circus would continue for almost two weeks. Jossy Mansur and Julia Renfro would report from Aruba almost each night once again on the cable news channels. John Q Kelly the Holloway family attorney would at first appear quite confident that these arrests would reveal some new information. On November 29, 2007 a rather surprising development occurred when Natalee's parents returned to the island of Aruba to meet with the prosecutor. What seemed like a meeting to reveal answers to the family instead turned into the prosecutor having some hard questions for both Beth and Dave Holloway. In fact the very moment that Beth arrived on the island with her attorney John Q Kelly it was announced that the Kalpoe brothers were going to be released. What then happened to this solid new evidence the prosecutor had?
John Q Kelly following his return from Aruba, would agree though that there really was no new evidence. It would seem the defense attorneys were correct all along.
With the release of the Kalpoes it was expected that Joran would follow in a few days. That would happen on December 7, 2007 as his parents Anita and Paul van der Sloot were there to greet him along with his American legal council Joe Tacopina and Rosemarie Arnold. Once again all three of the original suspects, who Beth Holloway still refers to as the "original perpetrators," were free.
