Ruben Trapenberg speaks for Aruba

Joran modifies his statement

On June 14, 2005 Joran will modify his statement to the police. This will be one of the significant changes that will cause some to disbelieve anything that he will say later on. In this statement he will agree with what the Kalpoes have said, that they dropped him off at the beach with Natalee. He however says that before going to the beach they stopped at his house and he does not mention the lighthouse.

When he left Natalee on the beach she was sleeping. He also says that Deepak came back to that area and picked him up. Joran claims to have left his shoes there and that Deepak said he would immediately go back to the beach and look for them. Police have confronted Joran with a text message that he sent to Deepak at approximately 3:15 A.M. that morning. In this message he says, "hey Swa, I am home now, I will see you tomorrow." Joran admits to sending this message to Deepak.

A report that Natalee was buried on the beach

A report that Natalee Holloway was buried on the beach causes an intense search in that area by Aruban law enforcement.
