On June 5, 2005 tourists and locals attend a prayer vigil for Natalee Holloway at the lighthouse area on the northwest point of the island. The lighthouse is one of the areas that supposedly Natalee visited the night she was last seen.

The images of Natalee's parents in tears truly bring home to anyone who sees them just how painful this was to them. Any parent would certainly feel their despair at not knowing where their missing daughter was.
Aruban police will state on June 5th that they are treating this as a criminal investigation even though they are clinging to a hope that Natalee will be found unharmed. Authorities had at this point talked to the three men who left the bar Carlos 'N Charlies with her and supposedly had taken her to Arashi Beach before dropping her off at the Holiday Inn around 2 A.M. Natalee's uncle, Paul Reynolds, states however that security cameras at the hotel do not support her returning to the Holiday Inn that night.
At this time Aruba police are suggesting three theories concerning her disappearance. Deputy police chief Gerold Dompig says, "the first theory is that "people of interest," the three men Holloway was last seen with may have harmed her. The second theory he says, "Holloway may have decided to disappear on her own accord." The final theory he offers is, "the teen may have been kidnapped."
