Was the concept of this being a suicide ever discussed?

Yes it was K, but as with so many other "theories" that couldn`t possibly be the point with Natalee, she was totally happy, had great grades, a loving family, about to go to university, so nooooooo way she would ever commit suicide, and not run away either.....

With respect Hannie; that's rational, and suicide isn't. My life has been touched by suicide several times, one the 17-yo son of a friend who was all Natalee was and more, already making a mark as a fashion designer, with prospects most of us could only dream about - found hanging in the garage.

What none of us could understand was WHY? Money, drugs, music, relationship, sexuality - everything was gone over hundreds of times and no reason ever found. No dark secret, no apparent cause. And worldwide there are many more similar. A really major personal mystery for parents, friends and associates. What did we miss, where were the warning signs? Well too often there are none at all.

One third of people who suffer from Clinical Depression die by their own hand; many youth sufferers are not diagnosed, and experience around the world shows that it isn't the street kids that are at risk, but disporportionately high achievers just like Natalee.

Even without other drugs we know that Natalee was at the end of a four-day drinking binge, and an alcohol-induced depression or "break" is a particular risk.

The real question is, is suicide a better fit to the known facts in the NH case? Like homicide, I don't know anything that could rule it out.
